He, along with his father and guide, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro (5,895 m high) located in Tanzania on March 6, 2021, at the age of 7 years, 4 months, and 25 days, as confirmed on April 26, 2021.
Nine-year-old Virat Chandra Telukunta from Hyderabad was awarded Prime Minister Bal Puraskar in Sports for scaling Mount Kilimanjaro.
Virat Chandra told ANI ”He used to run for 6-7 km every day, did sit-ups, suryanamaskar…meditation. It was very cold there, but we focused on summit point despite body aches,”.
Talking about his future expeditions, he’s planning to attend the Australian Summit and climb Mount Kosciuszko once the border restrictions ease out.
