EDUCATION AND SKILLS

He grew up as a studious young man with strong intellectual and social abilities in school and college. His childhood aim was to become an engineer, scientist, and adventurer, and he was an enthusiastic viewer of the Discovery and National Geographic Channels. He graduated from Mumbai University with a Bachelor of Mass Media degree. But fate had other ideas. He began interested in performing arts when he was 15 years old. Dance and acting became his religion, and he shifted his concentration to pursuing a career as an actor.

CAREER

In college, he took advantage of every opportunity to act on or off stage. He previously demonstrated his extraordinary stage performance in “The Inspector Calls,” a Hindi adaptation of J. B. Priestley’s famous drama, in which he played the lead role of “Rai Saab,” a “60 year old” business tycoon who is at the pinnacle of his career when he is confronted by a circumstance that threatens to expose the ugly truth about his past and his household. Among his many other roles, he has played “Mustafa,” a naughty and inquisitive servant in “Baghdad Ka Ghulam,” based on Carlo Goldoni’s masterwork “A Servant Of Two Masters.”Barry John, the acting coach of renowned Shahrukh Khan, Irrfan Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, Raghuvir Yadav, and Lillete Dubey, has personally taught, trained, and directed him. At the age of 19, he was found by acclaimed director Shimit Amin and writer Jaideep Sahni for their future film project with the legendary Yash Raj Films during his academic year of the Bachelor of Mass Media Curriculum, Mumbai University. Producer Aditya Chopra’s crew quickly screened him and confidently shortlisted him for their film “Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year.” The film was released on December 11, 2009, and was one of the year’s most critically lauded films. Mokshad’s acting talent, particularly his outstanding performance in the film as “TAXI,” an aggressive young sales executive, did not go ignored. The critical lessons were taught by director Shimit Amin and writer Jaideeep Sahni. Bollywood was calling, and he had finally broken through. PepsiCo made a golden offer in August 2010 to promote its soon-to-be-launched brand Pepsi-Max, a new sugar-free drink. Mokshad was also introduced as the “New Face of Pepsi Max.” In the commercial “The Interview,” he played the part of “Mr. Godbole.” Mokshad, 20, portrays a protagonist with cheek, courage, and a surprising reservoir of energy in this advertisement, lending it immense humorous value. Mokshad had the opportunity to collaborate with two of the world’s hottest filmmakers, England’s Nic Osborne and Norway’s Sune Maroni, who won the Cannes Lion Epica and Cresta Awards for “Great Sense Of Humor & Comedy” and were brought in to direct the commercial. In October 2010, he was quickly cast by another worldwide hot shot Cannes award-winning filmmaker Richard D’ Allesio from the United States of America (winner of 3 Lions awards at Cannes & director of over 300 international commercials on the Madison Avenue & producer-director of TV serials & National Geographic Explorer series). Mokshad was given the opportunity to showcase his ability as “an over-eager comedic flunkie” in the Godrej Appliance Eon Range TV advertisement. The commercial has received a resounding favorable response across all networks in India. Mokshad went on to promote several more companies in 2011 and 2012, including Pepsi, Lays advertisements with Saif Ali Khan and Airtel commercials with Indian star vocalist Shaan. He gained particular popularity and fame for his Airtel Kanjoos Friend Commercial, which aired in September 2011. The commercial almost gave Mokshad cult status…as he found people from the general public all over India, recognising him as they gleefully and teasingly screamed from afar “Police ko missed call diya kya!!?” and “Kyon ke har ek friend, zarori hota hai !!” his famous catch-phrases in the popular commercial. Several film parts followed leading to roles in “Ajab Gazabb Love” (2012) directed by Sanjay Gadhvi (of Dhoom-1 & Dhoom-2 fame), “I Love N.Y” (proposed release 2013) produced by T-Series, and more recently Mokshad has teamed up once again with Ranbir Kapoor in a super hit film from Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and directed by Ayan Mukerji “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” (30th May 2013) which has within 3 weeks of release flawlessly and speedily raced up to the Rupees 200 crores mark on Box Office Collections. In January 2014, he appeared in the ad “Lays Freshers Party” for PepsiCo’s Lays Chips, directed by Oni Sen for international agency JWT, as a young college freshman who gets mocked by an actor Ranbir Kapoor (Delhi). In November 2014, this talented actor will be featured in a key role as Prince Daniyal, Emperor Akbar’s third, youngest, and most eligible son, in Epic Channel’s flagship production, a prime-time serial named “Siyaasat.” A Mughal Throne historical story adapted on Indu Sundaresan’s best-selling novel “The Twentieth Wife.”Mokshad spent many months filming in Bikaner, Rajasthan, and its neighboring desert regions in harsh weather and heat, with temperatures reaching 51°C.
