Anuradha Kapoor was born on 16 October 1963 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Her father was a successful entrepreneur. She got married to Naveen Kishore, owner of the seagull Books, a publishing house in Kolkata. She met him when she was working in the publishing house. They have a son named Varun Kishore who is a composer, musician, and a producer.

EDUCATION
Anuradha Kapoor did her schooling at La Martiniere for Girls School, Kolkata. She has also done the Bachelor of Commerce from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi.
CAREER
Anuradha Kapoor was the manager of Seagull Books, a publishing house in Kolkata. While working there she met a lot of creative people and started attending discourses on gender issues, which shaped her sensibilities. Alongside her job, she indulged herself in a lot of social work and became Social Activist.
