Chandrani Banerjee is an Indian singer and songwriter. She has worked primarily with the Rock and World Music band Krosswindz, her voice has graced albums of Krosswindz, Mohinder Goraguli, and Bhoomi, she has also been featured in many world music albums worldwide.
Best known for her unique and mellifluous voice and heartfelt singing, Chandrani is currently the lead vocalist and songwriter of Krosswindz.
Career
Chandrani has performed extensively across the USA on two international concert tours in 2007 and 2009 and Europe in 2017. she is trained in Rabindrasangeet from Late Devdas Mandal and trained in folk music from folk exponent Late Anil Sarkar. she has sung for many films of which the award-winning film “Way Back Home” won the BBC Audience Award at the Commonwealth Film Festival UK.
She along with Vikramjit Banerjee(Tuki) has also recently composed and done the music direction for the film Ujaane Poddo Bhashe yet to be released.
she was nominated for the Grassroot Grammy’s(JPF) held in Nashville for 2 consecutive years for her rendition of a folk song “Tangra Tobu Takon Jaye ” and her composition” Jajabor Pokkhi” respectively. Her band Krosswindz was nominated for best Indian album for the album” Misiki Misiki” at the Grassroot Grammy’s(JPF) also. She was awarded The LBF Visionary
