Durgesh Kumar is a well-known Indian actor who played Aadoo in the Hindi drama film Highway. He is a National School of Drama-trained actor.
PERSONAL INFORMATION
Durgesh Kumar was born on October 21, 1984 (age 38 as of 2022) in the Bihar district of Darbhanga. His astrological sign is Libra.
He has one older sibling who has been quite supportive of him during his difficult times in Delhi.
Durgesh is the father of two children, a son, and a daughter.
EDUCATION
Durgesh came to Delhi in 2001 to pursue engineering in order to have a secure life; however, he did not pass any engineering admission exams, so he began practising theatre.
CAREER
Durgesh made his acting debut in Imtiaz Ali’s 2014 Bollywood flick Highway. He portrayed Aadoo and received more screen time and a more identifiable appearance as a supporting part.
He appeared in films such as Sultan (2016), Freaky Ali, Sanju (2018), Dhadak (2018), Dil Bechara (2020), and many others. Durgesh has also appeared in short films such as Bukhaar (2021) and Qadir.
OTT
Durgesh made his OTT debut in 2019 with the comic online series Virgin Bhaskar, where he played Batuknath. On November 19, 2019, the series premiered on ALT Balaji and ZEE5. Later, he appeared in a number of online series, including Bicchoo ka Khel, Serious Men, Candy, and others. The public adored him for his portrayal as Bhushan in the Amazon Prime web series Panchayat.
ABOUT
Durgesh used to attend drama workshops, which sparked his passion in performing. From 2001 to 2013, he worked in theatre for nearly three years and participated in performances all throughout India. He completed a two-year diploma program at the Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts in Delhi before enrolling in a three-year diploma program at the National School of Drama in Delhi. Durgesh also possesses a Hindi Hons degree from Ignou, an online university. He relocated to Mumbai in 2014 to seek a career as an actor.
Durgesh claims that his family was really supportive of him during his difficult time.
Durgesh draws influence from actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Speaking to the media about his part in Panchayat 2, Durgesh stated that he has been doing little roles in other web series and is on cloud nine with the release of Panchayat 2. “I’m truly astonished that my character, Bhushan or Banrakas, has become so popular. In truth, I had no clue how many people would like my performance. I give entire credit to Panchayat 2’s writer and director for developing Banrakas.”
Durgesh has appeared in over 35 plays before enrolling at the National School of Drama. Durgesh was also a member of the National School of Drama’s repertory company, through which he was able to work on the Hindi film Highway.
