Having started his career in the film industry as a director, the veteran star made his debut with Neel Mani in 1957. He later, over the years directed more than 15 films and some of his most notable films include Ganga (1965), Aulad (1968), Pardesi (1970), Anokhi Ada (1973), Duniya Ka Mela (1974), and Aaj Ka Mahatma (1976). Apart from direction, Kundan Kumar has also produced many films, most of which were his own directorial ventures.
