Pankaj Awasthi is an Indian music director. He was born and brought up in Delhi and completed his graduation in music from KMC Manipal, Karnataka. He later moved to Mumbai to start his upbeat music career. In 2007, he got a break in Manish Jha’s Anwar. He performed and wrote almost all of Anwar’s songs. After his successful debut, he moves from writer to playback singer and music director.
Career
Pankaj Awasthi is an Indian music composer, lyricist, and playback singer who primarily works in Bollywood cinema. Having started his career as a lyricist and playback singer with Karam (2005), he made his debut as a background composer with Anwar in 2007. Post-2007, Pankaj mainly worked as a playback singer and some of his notable film credits as a singer include New York (2009), and Lahore (2010) before eventually making his comeback as a composer with Sameer (2017), a Hindi drama thriller directed by Dakxin Bajrange Chhara. Apart from feature films, Pankaj Awasthi has also composed music for several short films and documentaries including Waif (2008), and Six Strands (2011).
Some of his projects include New York, Badmaash Company, Lahore, Tera Kya Hoga Johnny, Karam. He has composed and directed over 20 films in his music career. In 2005 he launched his album Name Nine, which includes Fusion, Blues, and Soft Rock Music. The multi-talented musician voiced Akshay Kumar’s Honda ad “Dekho Deke Yeh Zamana”; MP Tourism theme song, and a Nerolac ad. He is married to Sonia Awasthi, and the couple has two sons.
