Tarushi is the only awardee from the Chandigarh Tricity so far, and the first and the only person to get this award for taekwondo.
Personal life
Tarushi Gaur was born on 16th March 2009. Her father’s name is Vikrant Gaur. She is a native of Chandigarh, India.
Education & Career
She has been practicing taekwondo at a young age. Tarushi has achieved her 2nd Degree Black Belt in TAEKWONDO, certified and issued by Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters), Korea, on 28th November 2018.
She has achieved this degree at an age of 8 years, which made her set the record title as the “Youngest 2nd Degree Black Belt holder in Taekwondo Martial Arts. Tarushi’s High Range Talent in martial arts has been appreciated by Kirron Anupam Kher – Member of Parliament, Loksabha, Chandigarh, India.
Tarushi Gaur, 12, has been awarded the Pradhan Mantri Bal Shakti Award for excelling in taekwondo.
She received the award in the sports category from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a virtual ceremony that was telecast live on Doordarshan on Monday.
A student of The British School, Sector 44, she has been training at Emerald Martial Arts in Panchkula since the age of three under Shiv Raj Gharti, who is a 5th Dan Black Belt from South Korea.
Union women and child development minister Smriti Zubin Irani and minister of state Munjpara Mahendrabhai were also present during the ceremony. Tarushi received a medal, a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, and a certificate.
