Sepoy Hari Singh SC

Sep Hari Singh entered the Army at the age of 18 in 2011 and was assigned to the Grenadiers Regiment’s 20th battalion. By 2019, Sep Hari Singh had served for around eight years and had matured into a dedicated soldier.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Sep Hari Singh was born on August 15, 1993, in the Haryana district of Rewari. Sep Hari Singh was the third of five siblings born to Army veteran Agadi Singh.

ABOUT

After a few years with his parent unit, Sep Hari Singh was sent to the 55th RR Battalion, which was deployed in J&K for counterinsurgency operations. Sep Hari Singh got married to Ms Radha Bai in 2016 and the couple had a son, Laksha Chauhan.

PULWAMA OPERATION: 18 Feb 2019

During 2018-2019, Sepoy Hari Singh’s unit 55 RR was stationed in the J&K region of Pulwama and engaged in regular operations against terrorists. Following the terrorist assault on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama on 14 February 2019, security forces were on high alert, and a huge operation was initiated to apprehend the perpetrators of the incident. On February 17, 2019, the security forces got solid information from intelligence sources regarding the presence of terrorists in the Pulwama district’s Pinglan village. Based on intelligence, 55 RR and the J&K Police Special Operations Group started a search and destroy operation in Pinglan, a locality near Kakpora, the residence of the terrorist who attacked the CRPF convoy on 14 February.
The assault squad was headed by Brigadier Harbir Singh, and Sepoy Hari Singh was a member of it. When the terrorists were confronted, they opened fire, resulting in a 20-hour-long gun fight. Several hardline terrorists involved for the 14 February attack on the CRPF convoy were killed during the confrontation. However, eleven security men were also injured during the fierce exchange of fire, including the team’s commander.The injured troops were sent to the Army Hospital, but Sepoy Hari Singh and three other soldiers, Maj VS Dhoundiyal, Sep Ajay Kumar, and Hav Sheo Ram, died as a result of their injuries. Sepoy Hari Singh was a brave soldier who demonstrated bravery and commitment during the operation and gave his life in the service of the nation at the age of 26. Sepoy Hari Singh received the “Shaurya Chakra” gallantry medal for his extraordinary bravery, loyalty to duty, and great sacrifice.
