Kartik Vijay is an Indian television, and film cinematographer known for his work in movies such as Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, Matru ki Bijlee ka Mandola, Anwar, and Taxi No. 9211, among many others. Vijay has also shot more than 300 commercials which were also telecast at the Cannes Festival.

Career

Vijay is a Mumbaikar and pursued his education in Graphic Designing and Advertising at The Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Arts in Mumbai. Vijay started his career in 2000 by assisting in the production of popular television shows such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Ryan Murphy’s drama, Nip/Tuck, and Daniel Voll’s mystery-thriller, Threat Matrix. However, Vijay received recognition for his work in short films such as the Dominic Koletes-directed, This Woman’s Work, and the Natasha Dyer starrer Brooklyn’s Bridge to Jordan.

Consequently, in 2006, Vijay was given the cinematographer’s role in Milan Luthria’s drama thriller, Taxi No. 9211, featuring John Abraham and Nana Patekar in the lead roles. The following year saw Vijay as the D.O.P for the Manish Jha-directed Anwar. In 2008, Vijay served as the cinematographer for Dibakar Banerjee’s comedy, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye. 2011 saw Abhinay Deo appoint Vijay for his crime-drama Game, featuring Abhishek Bachchan, and Anupam Kher.

In 2013, Vijay sat behind the camera for the Vishal Bharadwaj- directed Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola. However, Vijay received critical acclamation for his work in the short film, The Brave, the Boldest.
