Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2022 awardee Remona Evette Pereira is just 16 and has been training in Indian classical dance since she was 3-years-old.
Her Father’s name is Gladis Celine and her mother’s name is late Everest Pereira.
She is the younger sister of Ronaldo Rockson.
Her quest to learn other dance forms namely Kuchipudi, Kathak, Semi-Classical Folk, Yakshagana, Western and Contemporary dance, proffered Remona more opportunities to establish and explore as an ambassador of dance.
Remona has bagged hundreds of prizes participating in innumerable competitions. She has also presented countless stage shows. She entered Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha during the year 2019.
Remona hails from Falnir and is pursuing her first-year pre-university at Nanthoor Padua PU College.
She is a Sandesha Foundation of Arts and Culture and Sourabha Sangeetha Nrithya Kala Parishath, scholar.
She also studies Western dance, folk dance, and other dance styles.
Remona said, “Due to Covid, we could not go to Delhi and interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the interaction with the PM, he asked about what inspired me to take up this art form and about the challenges as well.”
Pereira disclosed that she lost her father when the Prime Minister commented that her family must have suffered a lot to help her. Her mother has brought her and her brother up in a pleasant environment. Modi expressed his admiration for her mother after hearing this.
The youngster stated that her mother’s desire to make her daughter a fantastic dancer inspired her to study the art form. “I owe a lot to my mother and family,” the young woman told PM Modi, adding that she would attempt to spread the richness of Indian tradition around the world.

She also studies Western dance, folk dance, and other dance styles.
Manoj Karipalla and Sandhya K have been teaching her semi-classical dancing for the past eight years.
Pramod Kodikal Preethesh Kumar and Nicky Pinto are also teaching her western and modern dance.
Her desire to learn various dance forms, such as Kuchipudi, Kathak, Semi-Classical Folk, Yakshagana, Western, and Contemporary dance, provided her with more opportunities to establish and explore her role as a dance ambassador.
In the year 2019, she enrolled in Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha.
She has won hundreds of prizes as a result of her participation in numerous competitions.
She has also performed in many theatre productions.
